REFORMING LOCAL SELF GOVERNANCE INSTITUTIONS (LSGIs)
• Following were the structured activities undertaken under the project from
1994 onwards:
• Pre Election Voters Awareness Campaign (PEVAC)
• Mobilisation and strengthening of Gram/Ward Sabhas
• Capacity Building for Elected Representatives and officials
• Interface Programme for Officials , Elected Representatives and citizen
• Building Leadership among citizen and CSOs

Women Empowerment and Leadership Development
The major activities organized under various projects since 1990 include:
• Awareness generation orientations and capacity building training
• Self/personality and leadership development trainings
• Capacity building training for women prior and after election to LSGIs
• Exposure visits and participation in state and national level programmes
Strengthening Voluntary Sector and Voluntary Action
A series of activities have been under taken since the inception of the
organization which comprised of the following categories:
• Perspective building orientations for citizen and leaders of CSOs on
voluntary action, development policies and approaches, participation in
governance and in development etc.
• Seminars/ workshops on Rights issues, New Acts and Laws, Millennium
Development Goals and Sustainable Development Goals, Environmental
issues and local governance and developmental issues.
• Capacity building trainings on Organization Development and
Management, Participation in Local Governance and Management,
Leadership and personality development, good governance, etc.
• Participatory Training of Trainers Programme
• Promotion of linkage and Networking
• Nurture, develop, promote and strengthen Networks/ federations of
CBOs/CSOs/ VOs.
• Research studies and Policy advocacy

Capacity Building Intervention for Livelihood/ Poverty Reduction
with Special Focus on women
Major activities implemented under the projects from 1992 include the following:

Nurture, promote and strengthen women groups and women Organizations

Strengthening the capacities of the leaders of SHGs/NHGs, ADS and CDSS for effective Management of their Groups/ organization

Promotion of micro enterprises / Income Generating Programmes and providing monitoring and facilitation support.
Tsunami Relief, Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and disaster
preparedness Project activities(2004 December-2011)
a. Initial Relief Interventions, which include: Visits to Relief camps for need
identification; listening and consoling the affected people; distribution of food and
drinking water to affected people who sat away from camps; and Cleaning Houses
and Removing of Debris from the area.
b.Relief and rehabilitation Activities
Address Basic Needs- A participatory approach:

Organized Community Kitchen and Mess with the ownership and
participation of 120 affected families in 3 centers for 4 months. -
Organized Nutrition food for children in schools/camps and pregnant and
lactating mothers run by mothers in their locality and PTA in schools for 2
months-1914 children and 28 women benefitted. -
Noon meals for 1500 school/college students were provided for 2 months.
c. Relief and Rehabilitation Work – Phase-II

child recreation centers and children’s park, Tour/Exposure visits for
children, Arts and Sports Competitions, Library facilities and Information Centers, Community Living camp for Children and Youth
